ST. CLOUD -- A new chapter has been turned. Tonight (Tuesday) the Great River Regional Library board of Trustees approved further discussion on the addition of a library in Sartell.

Sartell City Administrators stated a case that their growing city wants and is ready to take this step.

Sartell Mayor Joe Perske says that now is the time.

Great River Regional Library board chair Mark Bromenschenkel says there will be a lot of talks between both sides over the next few months.

Bromenschenkel says one of the main concerns going forward is budget.

A library that is open 40 hours a week, staffing would cost around $147,000. To have a library opened  20 hours, would be $82,400 in staffing costs.

Perske says they have different location options in mind should the library be approved. One location option would be adding it to city hall.

Both sides will begin drawing up a new proposal in hopes to make things work. They will meet again in March.

Perske hopes to see the library opened by 2015.
