Sartell Boys Soccer Takes Third Place In State Tuesday Morning

The Sartell-St. Stephen boys soccer team played Waconia to a 2-2 deadlock, meaning both teams will share the third-place title.

The game was scoreless at halftime, then the Sabres’ Cullen Chisholm scored in the 41st minute for a 1-0 lead. At the 56 minute mark, junior Ben Veitch scored for Sartell to make it a 2-0 game.

Unfortunately, the Sabres could not hold the lead and allowed a pair of goals to the Wildcats in the next seven minutes of game time.

Minnesota State High School League rules dictate that no overtime be played in third place games, meaning both teams will take home third place trophies.
