SARTELL - Sartell-St. Stephen students will be able to check their school lunch menu right from their smartphones this year.

The district recently partnered with Nutrislice, a free smart phone app and online service that provides detailed nutritional information on school lunches. Students and parents can download the app or check online. They can pull up the lunch menu for the day or for the entire month.

"We're able to show our full menu: what students can select and that we have a great variety of fruits of vegetables, whole grain options and low fat low sodium options," Sartell-St. Stephen Nutrition Coordinator Hannah Warzecha says.

The App is available to download free for both IOS and Android users. The district had a soft launch of the app with a select group of students last spring to work out bugs and gather feedback. Along with nutrition, Nutrislice aims to help parents and students provide feedback to their district about the food they serve.

"There's also widgets on the side bar where students or parents can click a link to directly make payments to their lunch account," Warzecha says.

The St. Cloud Area School District is also planning to use the Nutrislice app for the first time this year.
