SARTELL - The 30th Annual Apple Duathlon event kicks off Friday in Sartell.

This year’s main event is on Saturday and starts at the Sartell Middle School. Competitors will begin the day with a five K run, followed with a 33 K bike ride from Sartell to St. Stephen, and conclude the day with a 5 K run.

The first wave of participants competing for prize money starts at 8:30 a.m.

The eighth Annual Kids Apple Duathlon race starts Friday at six p.m. for children ages seven through 16 years old. Participants will be divided into six different age groups. Awards will be given to the top three boys and top three girls from each age category. A special raffle will be held for all participants for the chance to win additional prizes.

Food and refreshments will be provided for all athletes after they complete the course. An award ceremony will be held after the last wave of contestants. All participants must be present to win a door prize.

Participation cost varies between age groups. Registration is open from now through race day.
