Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 29, 2015 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Sartell for Samuel A. Traut, age 24, who passed away Tuesday. Rev. Timothy Baltes and Rev. James Cheney will officiate, and burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at St. Francis Xavier Gathering Space and one hour prior to the services Monday at St. Francis Xavier Gathering Space. Knights of Columbus Bishop Trobec Council will pray the rosary at 4:00 p.m. followed by parish prayers on Sunday at the church in Sartell.

Samuel was born July 21, 1990 in St. Cloud to Lloyd & MaryAnn (Prom) Traut. He grew up in Sartell and graduated from Sartell High School in 2009. Samuel graduated from NDSU in 2013 with a degree in civil engineering. He worked as a civil engineer and road designer for Stantec in Fargo. Samuel was a member of St. Paul’s Newman Center in Fargo where he was a religious education teacher, lector, Eucharistic minister, and member of the prayer team and Knights of Columbus. He was a Bible Study Leader as a student and was currently leading one at his house even after graduation. Samuel recently participated in a mission trip to Peru for 23 days where he experienced great joy in doing evangelization. He was well known for his great smile, genuine, fun-loving character, prank playing, energetic swing dancing, mechanic skills, and his way of just helping out anyone anywhere. He was selfless, patient, loving, gentle, joyful, down-to-earth and deeply in love with God and concerned about doing His will more than anything.

Survivors include his parents, Lloyd & MaryAnn of Sartell; sister, Sally of Sartell; grandmother, Donna Traut of Sartell; aunts and uncles, Marilyn (Peter) Rasmussen of Eden Prairie, Marla (Joe) Lahr of Sartell, Roys (Mary) Traut of Sartell, and Cheryl (Dennis) Freihammer of Sartell, Cecilia (Norbert) Chapp of Elk River, Jeanne (Russell) Fuchs of Sauk Rapids, Paul (Michelle) Prom of Sauk Rapids, Harry Prom of Sauk Rapids, Betty Jane (Joe) Larkey of Sauk Rapids, Judy (Pat) Schroepfer of Sleepy Eye; and many beloved cousins and friends. Samuel was preceded in death by his grandparents, Firmin Traut, Leo & Frances Prom; aunt, Mary Lee Traut; and uncle, Jerome Prom.
