Ruth E. Schneider, 69, Minneapolis, formerly of Long Prairie

Funeral Services will be at 11 am, Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Williams Dingmann Funeral Home – Stein Chapel, Long Prairie for Ruth E. "Sis" Schneider, age 69, of Minneapolis, formerly of Long Prairie, who passed away peacefully on Tuesday at Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park. Rev. Noah Wehrspann will officiate and burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Long Prairie. Family and friends may call one hour before the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Ruth Schneider was born October 26, 1946 in Bertha, Minnesota, the daughter of Edward and Eleanor (Mortenson) Schneider. She graduated from Long Prairie High School in 1964 and Concordia College in Moorhead in 1968. She taught high school in Mayer, Minnesota before coming to Minneapolis to go to the University to study library science. She worked for Community Hospital Linen Services for 30 years and later volunteered at Park Nicollet Clinic. She was very active with the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and many other events at her churches as well as Bible studies. She did evangelism every opportunity she could including visiting homes and people in Edina. She was in the church choir and taught Sunday School at St. Luke’s Church. She was a very talented seamstress, often doing mending jobs for all of her family and making new clothes and quilts. She enjoyed reading, knitting, baking and cooking, traveling, teaching others how to do new things and lately coloring in many books and attending travelogues. She was a very intelligent and always looking for new things to learn. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Ruth is survived by her sister Janice Schneider (Richard Johnstone), nieces Janel Schneider (Gus Bass), Mia (Chris Johnson), and Lori (Eric Strom), Mazie Combs and Marie and Chaim Strom, many other relatives and friends. Ruth accepted God as her Lord and Savior at a young age and has walked hand in hand with God every day of her life.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Edward and Eleanor Schneider, brother Edward, sister-in-law Shirley, and niece Mazie Dawn.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be given to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 5421 France Avenue South, Edina, MN 55410, or to the American Heart Association or to the American Diabetes Association.
