Russell L. Stay, age 90, of Princeton, passed away Monday, April 27, 2015 at the Elim Home in Princeton, MN.

Russell LeRoy Stay was born on April 30th, 1924, in Princeton, MN the son of Eddie and Mabel (Talberg) Stay.

Russell spent his early years working in the badlands erecting power poles. After saving up enough money to purchase a ring for Naomi he returned to Princeton. He married Naomi Peterson on January 14th, 1950. They lived on a farm in Greenbush Township and later moved in to Princeton in 1973.

Russell and Naomi both enjoyed fishing together at their summer home on Dora Lake near Northhome, MN. He also enjoyed hunting both deer and bear; he always had great bear stories for his grandkids. Family and friends were very important to Russell; having them up to the cabin and entertaining them.

He is survived by his daughter Carolyn (Tony) Burke; daughter-in-law Bev Stay; grandchildren, Curtis (Crystalyn) Burke, Charles (Melissa) Burke, Terry Burke, Emily Burke, Mark (Shannon) Stay, and Mitchell Stay; and great granddaughters, Adelia and Eliana Stay. He is also survived by sisters and brother, Luella Peterson, Arlyss (Bernard) Abrahamson, Roger (Marlene) Stay, and brother in law, Ray Halverson.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Naomi; son Duane Stay; infant brother, Leslie, sister, Evelyn Halverson, brothers in law, Reuben Peterson and Clair George.

A visitation for Russell will be held one hour prior to the service from 10-11AM on Friday, May 1, 2015 at the Wyanett Evangelical Free Church in Princeton, MN. Funeral Service will be at 11AM on May 1, 2015 at the Wyanett Evangelical Free Church in Princeton. Interment will be in Wyanett Cemetery.
