ELK RIVER - If you've ever wanted to run with the bulls, now you don't have to go to Spain to do it.  A running-of-the-bulls event is going to be held in Elk River in May.

The Great Bull Run spokesman Rob Dickens says it's the first time for an event like this in Minnesota.

A similar event was being planned for Canterbury Park, but was cancelled due to liability issues.
Dickens says they've held four of these events nationwide so far, and there have been no injuries to the competitors or the bulls.

Dickens says a lot of people have the misconception that the running of the bulls in Pamplona, Spain is a race.

Dickens says their website has a graphic on how to avoid being gored.

For adrenaline junkies who want to sign-up, the cost is $45 if you register before next Friday. It will cost you $70 after that.  Dickens says they're expecting about 3,500 people to sign-up.

After the Run With the Bulls, there will be another Spain-inspired event called a "Tomato Royale"  where contestants can throw 30,000 pounds of tomatoes at each other.
