SAUK RAPIDS - There was no shortage of green in Sauk Rapids on Saturday as runners decked out in Saint Patrick's Day gear raced in the annual Shamrock Shuffle.

Racers were encouraged to go all out and dress up in green for the event. Prizes were handed out for the best dressed runners after the race.

Weather conditions were a tad bit on the cool side, the temperature was around 20 degrees at race time. Corey Muellenbach participated in the race, he says the cool weather wasn't much of a distraction.

"It was pretty nice, I'd rather have this than it be way too hot," Muellenbach says.

Perhaps most important of all, many racers enjoyed kicking off Saint Patrick's Day weekend with a run before celebrating later. Kim Andres and Gina Luedke both finished the race and said they were looking forward to a few beers later to celebrate.

"It makes you feel better to drink a few beers later since you've already got your run in," Luedke says.
