GRAND MARAIS, Minn. (AP) _ Authorities say a Twin Cities high school teacher
suffered cardiac arrest when he collapsed and died while running a race in
northeastern Minnesota last month.

The Midwest Medical Examiner's Office released the cause of death of
41-year-old Jon Mathson of Eagan on Tuesday.

Officials say Mathson had coronary artery disease, a hardening of the arteries
that supply blood to heart muscle. Reports say he had no medical history.

Mathson died May 20 while competing in the 25K Superior Spring Trail Race in
Cook County. Authorities say first responders and an off-duty deputy worked to
resuscitate Mathson, but he died at the scene.
