Rule Keeps Heat From Being Shut Off During Cold Weather Months

UNDATED -- The Minnesota Cold Weather Rule starts today (Wedneday) and Xcel Energy is taking steps to ensure people who have trouble paying their energy bills get the help they need.

The rule keeps eligible customers from having their service cut off during the cold weather months -- October 15th to April 15th.

Those customers have to commit to a monthly payment program that will not exceed 10 percent of the household's total income.
