Rubio, Sanders Win Minnesota Caucuses

UNDATED - Minnesota stands alone on the Super Tuesday map.

The state's caucus voters gave Republican Marco Rubio his first and only win in the march to the GOP nomination on Tuesday. Bernie Sanders captured a crucial win on the Democratic side that couldn't match rival Hillary Clinton's dominant performance among the dozen states voting Super Tuesday.

Minnesota is no stranger to standing out in the nomination contests. Republican voters haven't picked the eventual party nominee in an open contest since 2000.

But the winners still have a long way to climb to capture their parties' nod. GOP front-runner Donald Trump built on a commanding lead in the delegate count Tuesday night. Big wins Tuesday and the support of so-called "superdelegates" means Clinton still holds a wide lead in the Democratic race.
