Roy A. Jurek, 99, Sauk Rapids

June 20, 1916 - September 19, 2015

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Minden Township for Roy Jurek, age 99 of Sauk Rapids, who passed away on Saturday at Heritage of Foley. Rev. Michael Wolfbauer will officiate and burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends and relatives may call from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Sauk Rapids and also one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church. Parish prayers will be at 5:00 p.m.

Roy was born on June 20, 1916 in Sauk Rapids to Joseph and Magdalena (Stibinger) Jurek. He married Eileen “Toots” Gohman on October 14, 1941 at the Church of St. Augustine in St. Cloud. Roy farmed for all of his life on the family farm. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Minden Township and belonged to the Knights of Columbus Bishop Marty Council 3603, Foley and the Crosier Apostolate. Roy enjoyed dancing, visiting neighbors and reading the daily newspaper. Being with his family and active in his church community was important to him. He was a happy man, with a kind, gentle soul and a witty sense of humor. Roy will be missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his children, Tom (Laura) of Cheyenne, WY; Barb Prom of St. Cloud; Steve (Sandi) of Sauk Rapids; David (Vicki) of St. Cloud; 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Eileen “Toots”; son in law, Tom Prom; brothers, Clarence and Walter; and sisters, Stella Studer and Celia Jurek.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire staff of Heritage of Foley and to CentraCare Hospice, especially to Molly, for the excellent and loving care that was given to Roy.

Memorials are preferred to Crosier Apostolate of Onamia.
