Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00AM Saturday, January 30, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waite Park for Rosella Markwardt, age 90, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday. Rev. David Grundman will officiate and interment will be in Assumption Cemetery, St. Cloud. Friends and relatives may call at the church one hour prior to services.

Rosella Stelten, daughter of William and Mayme Stelten, married Donald Markwardt in 1944. Rosella and Donald spent much of their lives on a farm two miles north of Kimball. Rosella was a member of the Church of Saint Anne’s in Kimball, often volunteering for church activities. Rosella worked very hard on the farm gardening, canning, sewing, cooking, and cleaning. She was an avid reader as time permitted, and enjoyed visiting with friends and family.

In 1991, Rosella and Donald retired from the farm and purchased a home in Waite Park. She cared for Donald as his health declined. He preceded her in death in 2002. Rosella moved into Sterling Park Care’s independent living facility in 2011. After suffering a stroke in June, 2015, she resided in the adjoining nursing home.

Rosella is survived by her daughter, Judith Bell, and sons Robert, Daniel, David, Terry, and Keith, ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and her brother, George Stelten.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Harry Stelten, and grandchild, Megan Markwardt.
