April 24, 1923 - December 26, 2014

 

Rose Ann Ackermann, 91, of Motley, passed away Friday, December 26, 2014 at Lakewood Health System Care Center in Staples. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 3, 2014 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Motley. Family and friends are invited to gather Friday evening from 5-7 PM at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Interment will take place in the spring at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Camp Ripley.

Rose was born April 24, 1923, in Minneapolis, MN, the daughter of Carl and Mary (Eckes) Fitzer. She graduated from high school and in 1943 she married William Ackermann. The couple raised their family in the Minneapolis Area before moving to Motley in 1978. Rose was one of kind. She was an avid reader and very intelligent. She enjoyed being homemaker and the tasks that went with it: cooking, baking, quilting, gardening, and canning. No one could compete with her cole slaw recipe. Rose was a great bargain hunter and enjoyed the many trips to garage sales and thrift stores with her son, Dan.

Rose will be missed by her sons, Dan Ackermann, of Motley and Lyle (Mary) Biedschied, of Peoria, IL; daughter-in-law, Marlene Ackermann, of Marcell; special niece, Trudy (Harry) Mintun, of Hinkley; special nephew, Bernie (Cindy) Fitzer, of Zimmerman; three grandsons; and many other nieces and nephews.
