November 8, 1956 - May 19, 2016

Ron Schmolke, age 59 of Princeton, died unexpectedly at his home on May 19, 2016. Ronald Dale Schmolke, Jr. was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on November 8, 1956 to Ronald and Shirley (Larson) Schmolke. He and his family moved to Pine Center, Minnesota in 1965. Ron graduated from Onamia High School in 1974.

Ron was a talented Welder/Fabricator for Elk River Machine for the last 40 years. He was a smart man and was appreciated for his knowledge. He could problem solve and invent his own tools in order to finish the job.

Ron married the love of his life, Sharel, on September 22, 2001 in the front yard of their home. It was a perfect day, with all four seasons represented with a little rain, a little snow, and of course a little sunshine. They had been together for 23 years and they were hoping for at least 23 more. He raised three children, Ashley, Jason, and Brittany, and was the greatest “papa” to his 8 adoring grandchildren.

An avid hunter and outdoorsman, he also loved gardening with his grandchildren and grew potatoes, radishes, cucumbers, peppers and more. The pickles he canned were delicious! He enjoyed cooking for anyone who was willing to eat his delicious creations. Ron was often called “Dr. Doolittle,” as animals tended to flock to his side. Ron would drop just about anything to help his friends and family when they needed. You could also find Ron out riding his motorcycle, the wind whipping through his beard.

Ron will be loved and greatly missed by his wife, Sharel; his children, Ashley (Nick) Tomsky, Jason Angelos, and Brittany Ricker; his grandchildren, Ethan “Chuck,” Kaylee “Bonzo,” Aubri “Beba,” JaeLynn “Jae Bug,” Amarah “Sandy,” Shane “Smiley,” Jason, Jr. “Bam Bam,” and Bryson; his parents, Ronald and Shirley Schmolke; his siblings, Loretta Rolf, Lorraine Schmolke, Rose (Richard) Zak, Nancy (Bob) Hoskins, Karen (Jon) Sherwood, David Schmolke, and Mark (Deb) Schmolke; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

A "Go Fund Me" account has been set up by Ron's family.
