Roland (Rod) John Thompson entered into eternity, February 17, 2016 in the comfort of his farm house.

Rod was born April 29, 1938 at home in Meadowvale, MN. He grew up amongst 4 brothers and 4 sisters, enjoying trapping and coon hunting.
Rod also loved his horses; especially his favorite horse “Danny Boy”. He gladly served his country through the National Guard and proudly spoke of surviving boot camp.

Rod married the love of his life, Jacqueline Johnson on October 18, 1963. Together, they had three beautiful children; Julie, Dorn and Nikki. Rod loved The Church of God and traveling with family to Church events. He enjoyed gospel music and good Godly preaching.

Rod was well known as “The Grave Digger” and “Dog Catcher”. He proudly dug graves by hand with a shovel since he was 16 years of age and served as Animal Control for several townships for 20+ years. He also plowed snow many long nights and milked cows on his Zimmerman farm until 1976. One of his loved hobbies was finding scrap iron treasures at Auctions.

Rod is survived by his wife, Jacie Thompson; Children; Dorn (Mitzi) Thompson, Nikki (Barry) Hunt, Grandkids; Landon (Bekah Hanson) Thompson, Autumn (Allen) Anderson, Ethan Thompson, Levi Hunt, Montana Thompson, Lexi Hunt, Shane Thompson, Chase Hunt, Ambrie Thompson, Peyton Hunt, Willow Hunt, and one Great Grandson, Carson Anderson. Rod was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Margaret Thompson, Daughter, Julie Thompson and Sister Peg Johnson.
