Rogers Student Suspended For Tweet Switches Schools
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - An honors student athlete suspended over a two-word tweet about a teacher in the Elk River School District will attend school elsewhere.
Senior Reid Sagehorn is talking publicly for the first time about the seven-week suspension that has many students at Rogers High School rallying on his behalf. The 17-year-old honors student, who is captain of the football and basketball teams, says he only meant the tweet as a joke when he responded "actually yes" when he responded to an anonymous post online asking if he ever kissed a 28-year-old gym teacher.
District officials suspended Sagehorn for violating the conduct code for social media. Sagehorn says he has sent a letter of apology to the teacher. Sagehorn did not disclose where he will begin school Monday.
