ROGERS (AP) - A police officer is hospitalized after falling more than 10 feet from the attic of a house in Rogers while trying to arrest a suspect.

Officers went to the house around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday to arrest a man wanted for aggravated assault. Rogers police say he proceeded to hide in the attic as officers forced their way inside. Upon entry, a K-9 handler from another agency went up to the attic.

Rogers Police Chief Jeff Beahen says the K-9 handler apparently stepped on sheet rock that was too weak to support his weight, and he fell through the vaulted ceiling.

Beahen says the officer suffered serious injuries and was flown by helicopter to North Memorial Medical Center.

The officer's name has not yet been released.
