ROCKVILLE - After years of planning and building, phase two of the ROCORI Trail is finished.

Thursday local officials and residents gathered at the ribbon cutting ceremony in Rockville. The ROCORI Trail connects the cities of Rockville, Cold Spring and Richmond.

Heidi Pepper works for SEH, a company that was key in helping raise funding and planning for the trail. She says it is great to see the completion of phase two.

"This process has been very rewarding for me. I have been working with this group since 2004."

Phase two begins begins in Rockville at Mill Street and Broadway and goes east to Cold Spring and ends at 235th Street.

Most of the funding for the phase two came from the Legacy Trails Grant from the Minnesota DNR.

She says while people are excited about finishing phase two, they are already planning and getting ready for phase three.

"We need to connect phase one and two with phase three. The good news is we have already secured $800,00 in federal funding for the trail."

Officials plan on phase three eventually connecting the ROCORI Trail with the Wobegon Trail and Beaver Island Trails.
