COLD SPRING -  For the first time in more than a decade, there has been a significant increase in enrollment in the ROCORI school district.

There were 1,993 students in the district last year and there are now around 2,035 students enrolled now.

ROCORI Superintendent Scott Staska says they were projecting a decline in enrollment, so the slight increase was a pleasant surprise.

Increases were found in all grade levels across the district, except for high school seniors. Kindergarten saw the largest increase in the district.

Staska adds that the district will be able to accommodate the increase, since it was only a slight uptick in enrollment.

District officials feel the enrollment growth could signal that more families are moving into the surrounding communities.
