ROCKVILLE - Rock-Fest organizers and the Rockville City Council agreed Wednesday that Rock-Fest will once again be a city sponsored event.

In recent years Rock-Fest was not a city sponsored event, causing them to have insurance issues and putting the city at up to $1,500,000 in liability for Rock-Fest events.

Rock-Fest Organizer Kathleen Court-Stanger says it's important for the city to be involved with the celebration for more than just the insurance benefits.

"We are made up of a diverse population with multiple lakes, a rail road and wonderful people in this great agricultural community. In order for us to be successful with our festival and to really showcase it the way it should be we need to all work together."

The event is organized by local volunteers and businesses. Rock-Fest was started in 2003 for the 100th anniversary of the founding of Rockville. Alhough the event does not have a confirmed date for this year. Court-Stanger says the event will likely happen this June.
