March 16, 1926 - September 09, 2014

Robert's services will be held on Friday, September 12, 2014 at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, MN at 11:00AM with visitation beginning at 10:30AM. Robert William Weiss was born on March 16, 1926. His parents then settled in Detroit Lakes, MN. They had 4 more children. Bob had 2 brothers, Russell and Michael, and 2 sisters, Patricia and Adrienne who have all preceded him in death.

Bob’s mother passed away when he was 12, and being the oldest he tried to care for his brothers and sisters. When it became too much for him, they found a housekeeper and Bob and Russell went to live with their grandparents in Red River Valley. Bob quit school in the 11th grade and his Grandpa gave him a team of hoses and farm equipment. He worked all summer and was paid like any other helper, Bob really liked that.

When he was done working for the summer he moved to Minneapolis where his father was. He stayed awhile, but all of his friends were in the Services. He tried to enlist but came up as a 4F because of his vision, so he went into the Merchant Marines.

After the Service, he went back to his Dads. His Dad bought him a car and he went to work at Old Dutch Foods. In December of 1946, Bernice, his wife-to-be came to work there. They were married July 3, 1947. They had 7 children: Robert, Darlene, Arlene, Denise, Rodney, Diane, and Richard. They have 15 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. Bob worked hard for his family. He loved his family and was very proud of them. He had a special place in his heart for the little ones. Bob was loved by all that knew him.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, MN.
