Robert L. Sample, Clearwater, 86

January 19, 1928 - August 23, 2014

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 28, 2014 at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, St. Cloud for Robert L. Sample, age 86, who passed away Saturday at the Quiet Oaks Hospice House in St. Augusta. Rev. Al Stangl, will officiate and burial will be in the Minnesota State Veterans cemetery in Little Falls, with full military honors. Visitation will be 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at the funeral home in St. Cloud and one hour prior to services on Thursday also at the funeral home.

Robert was born in Monticello to Clifford and Mabel (Daniels) Sample. Robert was self-employed as a mechanic with his father at their Phillips 66 service station in Monticello, until 1954. Later that same year he opened and ran his own Texaco Service Station until 1965 also in Monticello. Robert then moved to Portland Oregon and worked in a Grocery Warehouse until returning to Minnesota in 1972. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.

Robert is survived by Children, Jennie Sample, of Portland, OR., David (Carlene) Sample, of Walkersville, MD., Thomas (Dellane) Sample, of Evansville, WY., and Richard (Sonja) Sample, of Milwaukie, OR; close friend Barbara Dennis, granddaughter, Heather (John) Meade, Charleston, SC., Step grandson, Lynn Carner, Casper, WY; great granddaughters, Mackenzie and Madison Meade.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Harlan.
