Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m.Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Church in Rice for Robert F. Popp, age 87, of Rice who passed away on Friday at St. Benedict’s Community Senior Community in St. Cloud. Rev. Kenneth Popp will officiate and burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends and relatives may call from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 29, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Church in Rice and also one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Parish Prayers will be at 7:00 p.m. on Monday evening at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Sauk Rapids.

Robert Frank Popp was born on July 27, 1929 in Langola Township to Leo and Rose (Gottwalt) Popp. He was united in marriage to Alma Burggraff on June 16, 1953 at Holy Trinity Church in Royalton. Robert served his country in the United States Army and has been a member of the Rice Legion Post #473. Robert grew a vegetable garden and loved using his crops to cook, he especially enjoyed making soup, head cheese and horseradish. He was a strong, hardworking man who was also gentle. Robert had a great sense of humor and handed out gum to everyone at dialysis. Robert was strong in his faith and loved to spend time playing cards with his family.

Robert is survived by his wife of 63 years, Alma of Rice; children, Ronald (Lori Wostrel), Tom, Arnie (Renee), Randy (Sharon), Linda (James) Poirier, all of rice; brothers and sisters, Ernest of Rice, Harold of Daytona Beach, FL., Johnelle Novak of Gilman, Joanne Zistl of Woodbury; 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Marvin, Leo Jr., Wilfred, Arthur, Roman, Elmer; sisters, Leona Kasella, Marion Kasella, Sr. Lerose Popp, O.S.F., Roslyn Huver, Rita Kloss and Corrine Garner.
