Robert “Bob” Stommes, 84, St. Cloud

April 15, 1933 - June 16, 2017

The Mass of Christian Burial, celebrating the life of Robert “Bob” Stommes, age 84 of St. Cloud, will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday June 27 at the Church of St. Augustine’s in St. Cloud. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Church cemetery in Breckenridge, MN. Bob died Friday at Quiet Oaks Hospice House after a long battle with cancer. Arrangements are being made by the Miller-Carlin Funeral Homes.

Bob was born April 15, 1933 in Grand Forks, ND to Robert and Loretta (Free) Stommes. Bob earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Dakota. He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1955 and he rose to the rank of Captain before being honorably discharged in 1968. Bob married Rita “Joan” Deal on August 25, 1962 in Foxhome, MN. After his discharge, Bob invested in apartment buildings that he also managed. Always striving hard to do his best, he earned an Eagle Scout award and worked many jobs throughout school to prepare him for college. He was a member of the Church of St. Augustine’s in St. Cloud.

Bob is survived by his wife, Joan Stommes and his sister, Audrey Plachecki, sister-in-law, brothers-in-law and many nieces & nephews

He is preceded in death by his parents and several in-laws.
