SAUK RAPIDS - Be prepared for some construction work on Benton Drive in Sauk Rapids.

Officials plan to redo a three-block section of the road from 2nd Street South to 5th Street South.  City Engineer Terry Wotzka says the plan includes eliminating the five-leg intersection at 5th Street South.

The total cost of the project is about $1.7 million, which will be paid for mostly with half-cent sales tax dollars.

Wotzka says the work will be done from late April through August, with traffic flowing through the work zone much of the time.

The City Council gave preliminary approval for the project last fall, tonight (Monday) they'll be asked to approval the final design.
