Richard (Dick) P. Hamilton III died December 6, 2014 at his home in Saint Joseph, MN. He was born March 28, 1930 in Syracuse, New York to Richard P. and Elisabeth C. Hamilton. He graduated from SUNY College of Forestry, Syracuse, NY in 1952.

Dick was employed by St. Regis Paper Company July 1, 1952 and worked in various pulp and paper related positions in Deferiet and West Nyack, New York and Bucksport, Maine. He retired from Champion International’s Sartell paper mill July 1, 1998 as Pulp Line Manager. Dick was instrumental in the operation of several paper mills and especially the design and start-up of wood pulping operations at the Sartell mill.

Dick enjoyed sports, photography, gardening, and walking his dog. He was dedicated to “working out” at Suburban Health Club and was a long-time enthusiast of the St. Cloud State University Hockey program.

He married Nancy Strating January 8, 1994 in Waite Park, MN.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy; children Bethe Brigante, New Smyrna Beach, FL, Richard Hamilton IV, Micanopy, FL and Lisa, William Hamilton, White Plains, NY and Haru, Robert Hamilton, Syracuse, NY and Christine, Brian Martel, Sartell, MN, Sandra Martel, South Haven, MN, and Heidi Larson, Colorado Springs, CO; 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Winifred, and wife, Kathleen (Martel) Hamilton.

Family services were held.
