Richard “Dick” Jackson, 71, Princeton

Richard “Dick” Jackson, age 71 of Princeton, died Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at the St. Cloud Hospital. Richard Wayne Jackson was born on January 15, 1946 in Geneseo, Illinois to Leonard and Edna (Goff) Jackson. In 1956, the family moved to Minnesota to begin farming.
After graduating from Princeton High School in 1964, he attended the University of Minnesota majoring in Theatre. While attending college, Dick was able to perform in a few semi-professional and even professional theatre productions. After two years of college, his father’s poor health caused Dick to have to leave his studies and move back home to run the family farm.

Dick met a young Princeton School Teacher named Dorothy Moe at a singles get-together. They married on June 14, 1975, and bought a fixer upper in town while Dick continued to farm on the family homestead. Their family grew when Jennifer and then Amy was born. He loved his girls very much and made priceless family memories.

As a photographer he was always taking pictures, even operating his own Photography Studio for a time. Dick continued his love for the arts as a member of Princeton’s Community Theatre. In addition to holding the position of Mille Lacs County Commissioner for 12 years, Dick spent 5 years managing the Princeton Speedway.

Dick will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Dorothy; daughters, Jennifer and Amy; brother, Ed (Helen) Jackson of Chatfield, MN; sister-in-law, Edie Cartwright of Montana; nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Arvin; and within the last week, his best friend, a Newfoundland named “Beau.”
