Richard 'Butch' Johnson, age 73, of Foley, died Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at the Wellstead of Rogers in Rogers after complications of Dementia.

Memorial Services will be 4:00 PM Monday, July 25, 2016 at Foley Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Allen Jergenson will officiate. Burial will be in the Ronneby Riverside Cemetery with Military Honors will be provided by the Foley American Legion, #298.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 PM Monday at the Foley Funeral Home.  Service with Dignity provided by the Foley Funeral Home.

Richard Duane Johnson was born February 1, 1943 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Roy and Harriet (Anderson) Johnson.  He married Barbara Anderson and they later divorced.  He lived most of his life in the Foley area and had done heavy equipment and backhoe work in the Twin Cities for several years.  Butch later owned and operated his own excavating business in Foley for nearly 50 years, retiring in 2010. He enjoyed fishing, boating and 4-wheeling with friends.  Butch was a great host and always liked to have a good time.  He was very proud of his wind-powered generator.  Butch was a member of the National Guard and a member of the Foley American Legion Legion.

He is survived by his children; Troy of Leadville, CO; Todd (Tonja), Sauk Rapids; Kari Mechtel (Chad Koren), Clear Lake significant other, Donna Woolard of Foley and her children, Robert (Wendy), Tony (Dave) and Lori (Jeff), brother, Howard (Jeannie), Sartell and sister, Linda (Ron) Hoffman, Grand Rapids and brother-in-law, John Young, Crosby and grandchildren; Madison Johnson, Gage Johnson, Grant Johnson, Carter Johnson, Kassandra Mechtel and Amber Mechtel. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Janice Young and an infant brother, Gerald.
