RICE -- After months of planning, the Rice park board is ready to unveil their comprehensive park plan.

An open house on the new comprehensive park plan will be held Wednesday at Rice City Hall from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Council Member Brian Skroch says members of the park board, engineering team and Benton County will be on hand to listen and gather community input.

"We're looking for feedback from the community. If there is anything we missed or they would like to see we can make those changes. We're always looking for new and exciting things people come up with."

Some of the designs include several new trails, sidewalks, future parks and overall beautification.

Skroch says one of the main highlights to the plan is a trail connecting the city to Bend in the River Park.

"Everyone wants to get a trail to Bend in the River Park. It's just a beautiful area and it's not to far from the city. There has just been huge support for some sort of trail connecting the city to the park so we can utilize it more."

After the open house the plans will be brought before the council for final approval at their next meeting later this month.

If approved, Skroch says they will start moving forward with the plans by September.
