GLENCOE (AP) - McLeod County sheriff's officials are trying to track down the person who shot and killed a prized reindeer used in annual Christmas celebrations.

A $3,000 reward is being offered for information leading to a conviction in the death of Claus, the lead reindeer at Bob Kendall's farm.

Kendall says he's puzzled how someone could so cruelly shoot "such a beautiful creature." Claus was found dead in his pen about two weeks ago. Investigators say they have no leads.

The Kendalls rent the reindeer for Christmas parties, holiday celebrations, parades and other events.
