Report: Minnesota Sheriff’s Son Arrested For DWI
MAPLE GROVE, Minn. (AP) - The adult son of Hennepin County Sheriff Rich Stanek faces drunken driving-related charges after a New Year's Day arrest.
Twenty-two-year-old Ryan Stanek was arrested by Maple Grove police around 3:30 a.m. on Thursday. Reports say that police responded to witness reports of a man vomiting outside his car after attending a house party.
He was found slumped over in his parked vehicle and refused to take a breath test.
Sheriff Stanek issued a statement saying his son is accountable for his actions and his parents remain supportive of him during a difficult time.
Ryan Stanek was previously charged with felony damage to property charge for allegedly damaging a public park horse trail with his truck this spring.
He also has been fined for marijuana possession.
