Raymond H. Schneider, 94, St. Cloud

Raymond Henry Schneider, age 94, St. Cloud, MN died Sunday, July 19, 2015 at St. Benedict’s Senior Community, St. Cloud, MN.

Funeral services will be Thursday, July 23, 2015 at 3:00 PM at the Benson Funeral Home Chapel, St. Cloud, MN. Burial will be in St. George Catholic Cemetery, Long Lake, MN.

Raymond “Ray” was born April 11, 1921 in Elrosa, MN to Peter and Christina (Retterath) Schneider. He served and played baseball in the United States Navy during World War II in the Pacific Armed Guard center from 1942 to 1945. Ray married Velma L. Barrow on May 8, 1946 in Royalton, MN. They moved to Sunnyvale, CA where Ray owned and operated his own barbershop. Velma died on November 15, 1996. After her death, Ray moved back to Minnesota. On June 30, 1998, Ray married Irene O. Mueller in St. Cloud, MN. He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and enjoyed dancing around the county with friends.

Survivors include son, Charles DeZurik of Punaluu, HI; daughters, Zona (Wayne) Rogers of Clovis, CA; Cheryl (Michael) Thompson-Mills of Denver, CO; brother, Edwin (Joann) Schneider of Fort Collins, CO; three grandchildren, Michelle, Clayton and Nicole, and two great grandchildren, Sydney and Alton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Velma, second wife, Irene, and five sisters, Caroline Deters, Marcella Walz, Arletta Turner, Jeanette Holman and Adeline Schwab.
