Rain in May Creates Washed Out Minnesota Trails
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is warning hikers and mountain bikers that heavy rain during the month of May has washed out some trails.
Boaters are also being warned that the state's second-wettest May on record has created rising water levels at boat landings.
Some parts of the state received more than a foot of rain during the last week of May, and DNR crews worked to fix damaged trails and roads.
The DNR says state park visitors should be prepared for high water levels. Drivers should avoid roads washed out roads.
The DNR recommends that travelers check the DNR's website to confirm whether recreational trails or forest roads are open.
