ST. CLOUD -- Rural AIDS Action Network is raising HIV awareness as part of National HIV Testing Day.

The non-profit organization is offering free confidential HIV testing and counseling today as part of their, "Take The Test. Take Control" campaign.

About 1.2 million people in the U.S. have HIV. Rural AIDS Action Network says about one in five people don't know they are infected.

The Minnesota Department of Health reported 315 new cases of HIV in 2012, an all time high.

Minnesota makes up 17% of all new reported cases. RAAN Executive Director, Charles Hempeck says, "It is important to know your HIV status."

You can schedule an HIV test by calling 800-377-9735 or by visiting RAAN's website.
