Funeral Services will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 24 at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, St. Cloud for Larry Thienes, age 81, of Sarasota, FL, who died Tuesday at his home surrounded by his loving family. Rev. Al Stangl will officiate. Friends may call from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 24 at the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, St. Cloud.

Larry was born April 3, 1933 in Little Falls, Minnesota the son of Albert and Julia (Ohotto) Thienes. He is a St. Cloud Cathedral High School graduate and attended St. Louis University School of Medicine, where he graduated in 1958 with his medical degree. Larry continued his education through the University of Minnesota, and did his residency in Internal Medicine at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Minneapolis from 1959 to 1962. He practiced Internal Medicine from 1962 until his retirement in 1992. Larry was the St. Cloud City Health Officer for many years, as well as served as the Stearns County Coroner for 23 years. In addition to practicing medicine, Larry was active as an investor in St. Cloud area Real Estate. Larry enjoyed playing the piano, doing light manual work, playing golf, traveling internationally, and using his private pilot’s license to fly. He was member of the Artist Series of Sarasota, FL.

He is survived by his life partner Charlotte Christensen; children, Paul (Alexia Dahmes) of Calistoga, CA, Richard Jr. of St. Cloud, Caroline of San Diego, CA, Ashley Christensen of Minneapolis, Erica Christensen of Minneapolis, MN; brother, William (Nina) of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Jasper Thienes, Gigi Thienes, Aurora Schunemann, and Allegra Schunemann. Larry was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Mary Thienes Schunemann.

The Thienes family would like to thank Mike Neutzling, Jeff Jennings and Charles Danzl for being Larry’s lifelong friends.
