Protesters to Rally Against US-Led Attack on Syria
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Peace and anti-war groups are holding a rally in Minneapolis to speak out against a possible U.S.-led attack on Syria.
The demonstrators are holding the rally in advance of a congressional vote on President Barack Obama's war resolution.
The protest will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, along the sidewalks at Lake Street and Hiawatha Avenue. Organizers say they want to create a visible anti-war presence along this busy intersection.
In a statement released before the protest, organizers say U.S. military intervention in Syria will be like "throwing gasoline on a fire" and will not bring peace or justice, or make Syrians safer.
Organizers say anti-war actions are also planned Saturday in New York, Washington, San Francisco, and other cities.
