Protesters Demand Prosecution Of Minneapolis police
MINNEAPOLIS - Protesters have marched to downtown Minneapolis to demand the prosecution of police involved in the shooting death of a black man last month.
The Twin Cities Coalition 4 Justice 4 Jamar Clark held the rally Saturday. Demonstrators stopped at the site where 24-year-old Jamar Clark was fatally shot in north Minneapolis before marching to the Hennepin County Government Center plaza.
Michael McDowell of Black Lives Matter Minneapolis told protesters that the recent 18-day occupation of the Fourth Precinct headquarters helped change police-community relations.
Authorities say Clark was shot during a struggle with police responding to an assault. Some who saw the incident claim Clark was handcuffed when shot.
Black Lives Matter Minneapolis plans to rally Wednesday at the Mall of America to protest Clark's shooting.
