Protesters Arrested at Regents Meeting

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - About a-half dozen protesters at the University of Minnesota regents meeting have been arrested by police.

The demonstrators are protesting the tuition hikes the regents are considering Friday. They refused to leave the regents' meeting room as ordered by police. University spokesman Evan Lapiska says those arrested were cited and released.

About three dozen other demonstrators gathered outside the meeting room and chanted.

The regents are considering President Eric Kaler's recommendation to raise undergraduate tuition for Minnesota residents by 2.5 percent. He's recommending a 7.5 percent increase for new nonresident students.
