ST. CLOUD - The Press Bar hosted a benefit on Sunday night for James Gackstetter, the man who was shot outside of the Bar two weeks ago.

The benefit raised a total of $18,000 for Gackstetter.

Gackstetter was working as a bouncer for the bar and was shot twice in the abdomen and once in the hand by Cordney Holmes after confronting two underage girls and telling them to leave.

Gackstetter was at the benefit and says that his recovery has been going well.

"It's really going about as well as it can, I'm feeling stronger everyday," Gackstetter says.

Hundreds attended the event to support James. The Press sold t-shirts and hosted a silent auction to raise money, all tips gathered at the event will also be going to Gackstetter.  Funds raised at the benefit will go toward medical expenses, as well as his living expenses while he recovers.

Gackstetter says the community support is overwhelming and that it proves that St. Cloud is a great city.

"It really just goes to show how awesome St. Cloud is, that even for being a slightly bigger town we can still be this connected," Gackstetter says.
