WAITE PARK — If you see smoke coming from Stearns County Quarry Park and Nature Preserve in the coming weeks, don’t be alarmed. The Stearns County Parks Department wants to alert you to a prescribed burn that will take place to restore 20 acres of the park back to its natural prairie land.

The prescribed burn will happen within the next two weeks depending on the weather.

The burn is done to help eliminate exotic plants that compete against native wildflowers and grasses.

Other prescribed burns may take place at Rockville County Park, Warner Lake County Park, Mississippi River County Park and Spring Hill County Park.
