The boys high school basketball and hockey seasons get underway for a handful of St. Cloud-area teams Friday night.

The #5 ranked Apollo Eagles boys hockey team heads to Bemidji, where they will face a Lumberjacks team currently ranked #10 in Class AA.

The #9 ranked Cathedral Crusaders boys hockey team heads down to New Prague for new coach Derrick Brown's debut with CHS. The Trojans are ranked #15 in Class A and were a state tournament team last season.

The River Lakes Stars are in Litchfield Friday night to take on the Dragons. The young Stars are looking to build on a 12-12-2 2014-15 season.

In boys basketball the Apollo Eagles hit the road up north to take on the Cloquet Lumberjacks, and the #3 ranked ROCORI Spartans will play at Zimmerman.

Two girls hockey matchups are on the schedule tonight as well, with the Stormin' Sabres hosting Duluth in Sartell and the IceBreakers hosting River Lakes at the MAC.
