UNDATED - The annual National POW/MIA Recognition Day is this Friday.  Jim Tourila is the National Surgeon General for the VFW.

He talked with talked with WJON's Bob Hughes this (Monday) morning.  He says 83,000 American soldiers are still missing from World War II, Korea, and Vietnam.

Congress has recognized POW/MIA's since 1979.  It's been held on the third Friday in September since the mid 1990s.
