MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Police at the University of Minnesota no longer think a female student was raped in her dorm room at knife point, but was "in crisis."

The 18-year-old woman had told police she was sexually assaulted in Sanford Hall early Sunday morning by two strangers, one of whom had a knife.

University officials said in a statement Thursday that after police investigation, the reported assault is now "being considered a student crisis intervention case." They said the university's crisis-intervention group for sexual assault victims is still working with the student.

Pam Wheelock, a university vice president who oversees the campus police department, declined to say whether police think a crime happened. She says the university's priority now is to give the student the support she needs.
