MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Minneapolis police say a standoff is over with a man who was holed up in a downtown hotel where a national convention of journalists is being held.

The Minneapolis Police Department said in its Twitter account Thursday night that the incident at the Hilton hotel had ended peacefully, with the subject unharmed and in custody.

Police spokesman John Elder said earlier the man was holed up in a room, and that rooms around him were evacuated.

Elder said there was no threat to public safety.

The National Association of Black Journalists is holding its convention at the hotel.
