BECKER -- Authorities say an investigation has revealed it was a 17-year-old girl who was driving a pickup before a fatal crash in Becker in July.

Fifty-four-year-old Charles Maurer of Becker and his 10-year-old daughter Cassy were killed when a pickup ran a red light and broadsided their van at the intersection of Highway 10 and County Road 11 on July 21st.

Investigators initially identified an 18-year-old man as the driver of the pickup. The man told a state trooper that his girlfriend was actually behind the wheel and new DNA evidence points to the girl as the driver.

The case has been sent to the Sherburne County Attorney's Office for possible criminal charges.
