ST. PAUL (AP) - St. Paul police are reviewing the circumstances surrounding the arrest of a 15-year-old boy after the teen's supporters questioned an officer's use of force.

The teen was cited for disorderly conduct following his arrest Sunday at a church picnic in a Frogtown park. Police say the boy was kicking and pulling away as the officer tried to get him to put his hands behind his back while on the ground.

The teen says he was standing up for his mother after an officer treated her disrespectfully during a police call about an assault involved juveniles. A cellphone video of the arrest shows the officer struggling with the boy while repeatedly shouting at him to put his hands behind his back.

Police spokesman Steve Linders says Chief Thomas Smith is aware of the community's concern over the arrest.
