MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Police say they have questioned and released a woman without charges after the SUV she was driving fatally hit a woman sitting in a Minneapolis bus shelter.

Minneapolis police spokesman John Elder said Tuesday the investigation is ongoing and the woman could still be charged. He says it appears alcohol or drugs weren't involved but police are waiting for toxicology results.

Police say they are investigating whether the SUV malfunctioned.

The station reports the woman driving the SUV was backing out of the McDonald's parking lot and accelerated. She hit a parked car, careened off a tree and then crashed into the bus shelter.

The victim's relatives have identified her as 45-year-old Billee Weaver of Minneapolis. She was declared dead at the scene Monday.
