NORTHFIELD (AP) - Minneapolis-area police have arrested a man in connection to an armed robbery that left a man lying in the road with a gunshot wound.

27-year-old Shane Hejl of Northfield was charged Thursday with attempted murder, aggravated robbery and three counts of assault.

Police say they found a man lying in a street early Tuesday morning. He tells them a man approached him and demanded everything he had before shooting him in the stomach.

Police say he was in stable but serious condition at a local hospital Thursday night.

Hejl's girlfriend tells police he told her he accidently shot someone early Tuesday. She says he threw bullets out their van's window.

Online jail records didn't indicate an attorney. Police say they're still investigating.
